Needless to say we are very sad to see Kerry leaving, but we are all very excited for her and she has our 100% support for all her exciting future ventures!

We have had some amazing times here at OddCo with Kerry. We've laughed, cried, shouted, stomped and hugged and we've always worked as a great team.

We love you very much Kerry and you know that the door is open whenever you want to pop in for a cup of tea and a luxury biscuit.

Let's face it, we're not huge fans of sports and exercise here at Bad Taste Towers... We'd much rather have a cup of tea and a Hob Nob, than prance around in the rain getting all cold and tired.

Ian Ferno was one of the first designs sketched out by Peter Underhill, who instantly came up with the name too!

Brace Yourself: First opened in 2002 as the world’s first “fourth-dimensional” ride, with 360-degree rotating seats and headfirst, facedown drops, Six Flags Magic Mountain’s X was closed in 2007 for a $10 million rejiggering. This May it has emerged, phoenixlike and more spine-tingling than ever, with new immersive tunnels, more audio and visual enhancements, and sleeker wing-shaped trains. For the uninitiated, it’s called four dimensional, or 4-D, because the seats extend off the track to the sides, allowing riders to independently rotate head over heels, forward and backward—giving that mind-bending dimensional effect.

Brace Yourself: Opened in May 2008, the so-called “sweetest place on earth” just got edgier. This inverted vertical loop “lift” coaster starts off swooping riders up 121 feet above the ground only to plunge them right back down in a gut-wrenching, 97-degree negative drop—the steepest in the U.S. At the 121-foot crest, the upcoming drop is at such a steep incline that the only thing riders in the stadium-seating trains see is, well, nothing. No track at all. Once you survive that first drop, there’s still more to come: a 107-foot inverted loop, an inverted corkscrew roll, cobra element, airborne inverted S-roll, another inverted corkscrew, a little airtime hill (stomach floating), a high-speed banked curve, another hill, and then a high-speed banked curve to end it. All this action takes place in about 85 seconds—less time than it takes to polish off a Hershey bar.

Brace Yourself: Not all the scariest rides are roller coasters, a fact that everyone who has been to the top of the Space Needle-like Stratosphere hotel in Vegas knows only too well. Perched over the Strip, the most frightening of the Stratosphere’s three rides is an electric-green-colored centrifuge called Insanity, which extends 64 feet over the north edge of the tower. Spinning over 40 mph, riders are angled down by 70 degrees so all they see is the street, 900 feet below. This is truly one of the world’s most harrowing rides.

Brace Yourself: Sure, Britain’s mostly dreary climate can seem like a strange choice for a theme park, but this roller coaster, built in 2002, still holds the record for number of inversions: 10. It flips riders over and over and over again in maneuvers called the double corkscrew, the cobra roll, and the quadruple heart-line roll. If you’re more likely to be in China than the U.K., an exact replica of this ride, called the Tenth Ring Roller Coaster, was built in 2006 at Chimelong Paradise in Guangzhou.
5. Kingda Ka

Brace Yourself: The current big daddy of coasters, this ride towers, quite literally, above all others. At the ride’s highest peak, the brave folks who step aboard soar a record 456 feet (the equivalent of 45 stories) aboveground. Catapulting up with the help of a hydraulic launch at a record-setting speed (128 mph), Kingda Ka reaches its top height in just 3.5 seconds. On the way down, there’s a 270-foot spiral; this is not a world record, but there’s plenty of spinning action for this hair-raising trip, during which riders will experience both negative and positive G force.

Brace Yourself: The name translates roughly to “hey, what the hell,” which is what you will hear others shouting in Japanese when you’re on this ride. Only the second “4-D” coaster in the world (X2 is the other), this has the same 360-degree turns and insane style of head-over-heels spinning on the winglike cars as X2. But there are plenty of differences; for one, this track is a little longer and the ride is far taller—at 250 feet, it’s the seventh-highest roller coaster in the world. And from the top, riders have a spectacular, if brief, view of nearby Mount Fuji.
7. Tower of Terror

Gold Coast, Australia
Brace Yourself: Australia’s Gold Coast is a little off the map for most people, but if you are in the neighborhood, head for this: the fastest, tallest thrill ride in the Southern Hemisphere (and at 100 mph, the fourth fastest in the world). After climbing at a rate of 4 G’s to a heart-stopping height of 38 stories, or 377 feet aboveground, the steel shutter roller coaster has a 6.5 second, 100 mph, zero-gravity drop, and then stretches straight out for the equivalent length of three football fields.

Brace Yourself: Always tops in any list of the best coasters in the world, including Internet Coaster Poll, which polls fans from around the globe, GeForce is not only one of the largest coasters in Europe, it’s always one of the most complete and satisfying because it’s long enough and not gimmicky. But it’s also harrowing, reaching 4.5 G, a height of 203 feet, and speeds exceeding 74 mph. And there are seven coveted moments of weightlessness when your stomach just floats…and floats again..

9. Maverick
Cedar Point Amusement Park
Sandusky, Ohio
Brace Yourself: No list is complete without mentioning at least one of the 17 roller-coaster rides at the self-proclaimed home of the roller coaster, Cedar Point. Of the many to choose from, Maverick, the newest (built in 2007) and most expensive ($21 million), is not one of the park’s highest-tallest-fastest record-holders, but it’s one of its best. It’s plenty fast—at 70 mph—and features eight airtime-filled hills and countless twists and turns. It’s just a more complete ride, and during the longish 2.5-minute trip, there’s even an unusual surprise…which would be spoiled if we told you beforehand.

10. Superman Ride of Steel

Brace Yourself: There are three versions of the Ride of Steel coaster in the U.S.: one at Darien Lake in New York State, one at Six Flags American in Maryland, and one here. But this is the one that wins the awards every year as the best roller coaster in the U.S. With its speeds of more than 77 mph, a 221-foot drop into a tunnel, two bunny hills, three camel backs, and a grand total of 10 seconds of weightlessness, it’s easy to understand—with your wobbly legs getting off the ride—why this ride won Amusement Today’s Golden Ticket Award (the Oscar of the amusement park industry) again in 2007.

With the exciting news that limited edition figurine Natural Causes, will be launched tomorrow night (13th Sept at 6.30pm) we thought we'd have a Bad Taste Bears top 10 horrible (idiotic) deaths, for your sick pleasure.

Enjoy...

1. A circus act in Romania ended in tragedy on 23 January when fire-eater Vlad Cazacu, 43, belched in mid-performance and was blown to bits. Incredibly no one came to his rescue as stunned onlookers assumed this was part of an amazing illusion. Consequently this unfortunate man, who probably could have been saved, was allowed to just lie there and die.

2. Zookeeper Friedrich Riesfeldt fed his constipated elephant 22 doses of animal laxative and more than a bushel of berries, figs and prunes. The plugged-up pachyderm finally let fly. Standing next to his elephant, Mr. Riesfeldt suffocated under 200 pounds of elephant manure. Investigators say Riesfeldt, 46, was attempting to give the ailing elephant an enema when the beast unloaded on him.

3. A German couple in their 50s took their old car to a scrap yard. They parked, completed the paperwork, but got back in the car to shelter from a sudden squall of rain. "The driver of the crane was told to process their car", said a police investigator. "He did so without realizing that the couple were sitting inside again." The car was grabbed by the crane's steel claws and dropped in the crusher, which normally reduces cars to a small cube. It was stopped when the crane driver heard the woman's screams, but it was too late to save her husband. The crane driver was hospitalized for shock, but was expected to be charged with "negligent manslaughter".

4. Johannesburg, South Africa - A young Saudi man, camping with two friends on top of a mountain, was killed instantly when he took a call from a friend on his mobile phone during a storm and the phone was struck by lightning.

5. Christopher Pane, 34, and an un-named woman of 25 drank 11 bottles of beer and then went on a sexual romp in the sea near Darwin in Australia. They had intercourse in the water when the woman decided to go underwater for a different activity. Pane became excited, put his hands on her head and kept her submerged. Micheal Carey, prosecuting at Payne's trial in the Northern Territories Supreme Court a year later, said Pane told police that when the woman stopped sucking, he wondered what was going on, so he let her up. She had not tried to get up and wasn't kicking or splashing. When he realized she was dead, he "freaked out", dressed and drove away. He was arrested two days later and during his year in prison had constant nightmares and was treated 12 times for outbreaks of boils. Pane's counsel pointed out that the woman might have passed out from drink: she had consumed six times the legal driving limit.

6. Normandy, France - Jacques LeFevrier left nothing to chance when he decided to commit suicide. He stood at the top of a tall cliff and tied a noose around his neck. He tied the other end of the rope to a large rock. He drank some poison and set fire to his clothes. He even tried to shoot himself at the last moment. He jumped and fired the pistol. The bullet missed him completely, but cut through the hanging rope instead. Freed of the threat of hanging, Mr. LeFevrier plunged into the sea. The sudden plunge into the freezing waters extinguished the flames and apparently made him vomit the poison as well. He was dragged out of the water by witnesses on the beach below the cliff and was taken to a hospital, where he died of hypothermia.

7. Toronto, Canada - Police said a lawyer demonstrating the safety of windows in a downtown Toronto skyscraper crashed through a pane with his shoulder and plunged 24 floors to his death. A police spokesman said Garry Hoy, 39, fell into the courtyard of the Toronto Dominion Bank Tower early Friday evening as he was explaining the strength of the building’s windows to visiting law students. Hoy previously had conducted demonstrations of window strength many times according to police reports. Peter Lauwers, managing partner of the firm Holden Day Wilson, told the Toronto Sun newspaper that Hoy was “one of the best and brightest” members in the 200-man association.

8. Sunderland, England paramedics found a prone man suffering injuries including a scorched colon, caused by a Black Cat Thunderbolt rocket. The 22-year-old had, unbelievably, inserted this rocket in his back side, lay down on his front side, and lit the fuse in an attempt to make the rocket fly up into the air. But it was pointing the other way! The regional Firework Association chairman spoke for us all when he said, "This sort of thing is beyond belief."

9. A young couple, driving along Via Dutra, the largest freeway in Brazil with tons of heavy traffic, at 6am under heavy fog. The couple decided that this was the time to park (for "dating" according to the charming Google translation) and, yes, they parked on the freeway in the right-hand lane, not on the shoulder, the median, or at a gas station. Naturally, given time a cargo truck encountered a "speed bump," instantly killing both -- during the act of procreation.

GIANT ARNOLD!!!?

Wow! Check out this AWESOME MASSIVE ARNOLD that retailer Rec-House, our extremely creative partners in France, have displayed in their shop window!

Rec-House is a little toy store in Strasbourg, France, owned by retailer Guillaume Reeb.

The giant, wood terminator bear (43,31" ) was designed and built for Guillaume, by his good, good friends Jean-Sebastien Fruhling and Antoine Huart. Apparently, it took just 1 week to make (they could teach US a lesson or two!?) and his eye lights up. It weighs 15 kg.

Conratulations Guys! You've done us proud...

My big fat royal zombie wedding

What's better than a Royal wedding?
A zombie royal wedding! Now coverage of that I'd watch!
Well, anyway. Here's what I've got to work with. Awesome in part because I had nothing to do with any part of it.

So I intend to stand tall on the shoulders of giants such as Pete, Wayne, and Gavin. The only thing I need to do is not f**k it up.

The first thing to do, I felt, was to alter their stance, because that wasn't very zombie like, so to do that I cut it up into chunks! Oh yes. That's right! This is more than a re-paint.

Yikes! I've done it now!
Using super glue to stick it back together would only result in the same bear again. So it's time to bring out the moders friend, car body filler.

A nice big blob of filler in between the bits means I can put all the bits a pieces back at different angles.

And while I'm at it I may as well stick the crown on a Kate's head instead!

Now, with a dremel, I need to carry the lines of the drapery back through, so you cant tell it used to be all chopped up.

Then I gave it a bit of a spray with the white. To get a better idea of shapes without getting distracted by colour. I hollowed out Kate's eyes a bit and put the black dots back on with some filler.
I also hollowed out her cheeks a bit, cut her jaw off and stuck it back on open.

Because William is now leaning back the dress was draping incorrectly so it needed a big fat splodge of filler there

Now that he's looking up I can make more of his face too. Hollowing out the eyes and mouth with the dremel again giving it a scream type thing.

A few holes in kate and her dress too...

Some cuts too. Maybe it was Fred who got to her?

Then it's just a matter of painting it I guess.

DEADMAU5 SERIES 2 UPDATE

It's been a while since I updated on the status of series 2 Deadmau5 Mini Collectibles... Well, I'm happy to say that the new ABS (Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) samples have arrived in the office and are looking terrific!

ABS is a much more maleable material that the previous polystone figurines, so you can carry your Deadmau5 figures where ever you like without the danger of sitting on him and snapping his ear.

Planned launch of these blind box bad boys is looking like May 2011, but we'll keep you posted as and when we know for sure. Thanks x

My personal favourite was this one...

Mine was Blodwin, a handknitted welsh rabbit ( yes, really). She went everywhere with me, was vomited on, dragged through indiscribable things and washed and hung out to dry many times. Not only this but she had a totally amazing hand-knitted traditional welsh outfit...hmmm!!!

We can even begin to think what to search for for to find a picture of this one.

An accidental freak of nature, conceived when an Underhill Inc experiment went terribly wrong; he is now confined to his glass tomb, eternally, for all to see. You’ll laugh at him, shudder at him, and yet, but for an accident of birth, you might even be as he is. Part Bad Taste Bear, part crab, part octopus and possibly some kind of goat, Jean Michel is the bear that nobody wanted. He did not ask to be brought into this world, but into the world he has come.

Originally drawn in summer 2010, by competition winner Joe and re-designed by BTB creator Peter Underhill, Jean Michel has beautifully painted details and is frozen in solid, clear resin.
With just 600 available worldwide, each Jean Michel figure has a individually hand numbered specimen tag and includes a Certificate of Authenticity, numbered and signed by Bad Taste Bears creator Peter Underhill.

DEAD TED SOCIETY

One of the most hotly anticipated launches of 2010 surely had to be the Dawn of the Ted zombie mini range.

With loads of hyped collectors and fans blogging and tweeting about the range, plus Diamond Comics taking on the range in the US, we think that Dawn of the Ted has opened the door for a whole new generation of bad taste bear lovers.

All our fans of blood, guts and gore, just can’t get enough of the new Dawn of the Ted, therefore when we first sat down to talk about launches for 2011, Dawn of the Ted was top of our list.

Pete had already drawn a stack of great zombie images that we still wanted to use, but how could we improve on what we’ve already achieved and take it to the next level?

One of the most exciting new ideas that we came up with when we launched the first set of Dawn of the Ted was to separate the fans into zombies and zombie killers… Why not the range too?

Well the zombie killers are going to be very happy because our first launch in 2011 will be a series of Zombie Killer bears!

Check out ‘Morty’ the zombie killer who kicks ass for the Lord!

This bear was sculpted by Wayne Taylor and model maker Gavin Wilson added the accessories such as the cup and cross.

Original art obviously comes from Mr Underhill.

Earlier on this year, we explained that there would be an end to the bi-monthly twin-set programme.

Instead of twin sets we will be introducing a brand new bi-monthly scheme called – DEAD TED SOCIETY

Members of the Dead Ted Society will be buying into a collection of amazing new Dawn of the Ted Zombie and Zombie Killer figurines which we will also launch as a direct debit scheme every other month in 2011.

Starting from Jan 2011, Dead Ted subscribers now have the option of being sent a brand new special edition DOTT figurine every other month for just £7.50 a month.

The normal retail for zombie killers will be £16.99 or above depending on the model, Club Members still receive their 10% discount on each piece and Dead Ted subscribers will only pay £15 per figurine no matter what.

We aren’t going to announce quantities at this stage, but let’s just say that some will be more limited than others. Watch this space…

A brand new BTB launch that we would like to announce for next year is a change in the BOTM scheme…

There will be some excitement about this range as Pete Underhill and the team have been asked about it continually for as long back as we can remember?!

In 2011, your Bear of the Month will now become ‘Horrorscopes.’ That’s horror scopes.

Every month from January onwards will relate to the relevant star sign for that period of time!

Peter first sketched some star sign bears almost 10 years ago and we actually launched a Taurus figurine in the shape of scratch and sniff. I guess the whole range just didn’t really have a place amongst other things that we were doing at the time and therefore it was never launched in its entirety.

We did actually return to these original designs, when we first talked about bringing back the range for 2011, but Pete decided that he would like to have another crack at the star signs under the guise ‘horror-scopes’ in an effort to update them and make them a bit more edgy.

Check out Aquarius, the first launch for 2011!! Not only is it a great funny gift for anyone who has Aquarius as their star sign, it’s also a terrific looking addition to any range.We think Pete has got the balance just right.
As you can see, we have incorporated the clear resin method that we have used for your Christmas bear 2010.

Reports are coming in that another poor unfortunate has met her maker at the hands of The Ripper. Detective Peter Underhill has provided an artists impression of the horrific scene.

The whole BTB population is now on the look out for the Ripper with many already solving his first clue from the last weeks "Dear Boss" letter.

Police in Bearchapel have released what is thought to be a letter written by the so called “Ripper”. Now known as the “Dear Boss” letter the piece seems to taunt the police for their lack of progress in the case.

It was received by Detective Underhill this morning, in a statement he has said “we are releasing this information so that we can have as many eyes possible looking out for this maniac… We need the help of the whole Bearchapel BTB community to help us with this one..”

The letter includes clues to a promised reward for anyone that solves the Rippers riddle.

We’re delighted to confirm that we will be holding a special BTB Convention in Peter Underhill’s home town of Hinckley, Leicestershire on Saturday 20th November.

We’re inviting you to join us at the Creative Hinckley Gallery between 5pm and 8pm for a special BTB evening. On arrival you will be offered a glass of bubbly and there will also be a small selection of canapés available.

*Pete’s Gallery - Pete is putting together some key pieces of BTB artwork from the past 10 years ready to exhibit and display. There are sure to be many hidden gems as well as the chance to show off some classics in a fabulous Gallery.

*2011 Preview - This is your chance to get the low down on everything Bad Taste Bear for 2011. Presented by a BTB panel including creator Peter Underhill and Oddco’s Paul Kell, you will be the first to see the exciting developments we have in store for the BTB range next year.

*Q&A – As well a preview of 2011, the panel will also be holding a question and answer session. If you have a burning BTB question you have always wanted to know the answer to then this will be the time to ask.

*Red Hot Evan & Elle – pick up your Limited Edition “Red Hot” Evan and Elle Convention bear, of which there are only 200 worldwide. This special piece is a variation of the standard Evan and Elle figurine which is due to be released on general sale after the Convention (date to be confirmed).

*Giant Death – you will also be able to collect your giant Death Statuette, of which there are only 150 worldwide. Standing at and impressive 18″ this is a bear not to be missed!!

Tickets – there are only 150 places availableat this exclusive convention, so tickets will be restricted to 2 per member. These are due to be released on Wednesday 15th September at 6:30pm on the Online Store.
The price is £45 per person which includes your exclusive Limited Edition “Red Hot” Evan and Elle Convention bear.

On purchasing your ticket you will also be able to order a Giant 18” Death Statuette, restricted to 1 per ticket. There will be 2 payment options – pay £125 in full or pay a deposit of £65 with the balance due before 31st October. If you choose the instalment options you will be responsible for contacting us to pay the balance of £60. Failure to do so will result in you loosing the bear and your deposit.

You MUST attend the Gallery to collect these convention pieces. You will receive reservation tickets which you must present on the night to receive your bears.
Some stock of both Convention pieces will also be available at co-ordinating German and Austrian gatherings. Availability of any unsold bears will be reviewed after the event.

We’re now living in an undead world. The original Zombie outbreak has led to the panicked collapse of civilian society with only isolated pockets of survivors remaining.

The Undead have grown more agile, vicious, intelligent, and stronger than the traditional zombie. They were slow and lumbering as Lurkers, but once they turned Rabid, and as confidence grew, they’ve developed into Ultimate Zombies.

On the other side, the Survivors have been left to scavenge for food and supplies in a world reduced to a pre-industrial hostile wilderness. Living under threat of attack, they’ve quickly had to become Zombie Killers. Many have stepped up as Stealth Killers as they’ve become more efficient and those who fight to protect all of humanity are known asMaster Zombie Killers.

They live every day under threat of marauding Zombies and fear that a fresh outbreak is imminent….

This is predicted to take place at 6:30pm on Thursday 19th August.Here, the second set of Zombies will be unleashed:

These will initially be launched as a set on the Online Store and will include a FREE “I’m a Zombie” or “I’m a Zombie Killer” badge.

In addition, anyone capturing this set of Zombies will have a 50/50 chance of winning a FREE Limited Edition Self Catering Phantom Zombie – one of just220 worldwide.
